General Instructions

    Pre-registration

    To speed registration, fill in the Platinum entry form, the Gold entry form, the Silver entry form or the Bronze entry form as applicable and send this with the entrance fee to the organiser. You can also enter on-line through Paypal, see the Entry Form page. After registration, you will be given your checkpoint card, ready to start!

    Procedure at Start

    Halls-am Halls-pm

    For each route, the event will start from the halls at Fairfield Car Park, Abergavenny (GR S0299146) (Red Cross Hall: Gold Route Only; Guide Hall: Platinum, Silver & Bronze Routes Only) (see here for map) where there is ample car parking (£3.50 for the day). The walks will also be controlled from here, and naturally finish here.

    Entrants should arrive for registration by:

    On arriving for Gold, Silver and Bronze Routes go to the appropriate Registration Desks where you will be given your Checkpoint Card. When you receive your Checkpoint Card you may begin the walk. Checking in times for Gold, Silver and Bronze are:

    On entering the Hall, each entrant will be registered and there will be random checks that walkers have the equipment shown on the Equipment Checklist tab or click here for list:

    Procedure at each checkpoint

    You must visit each checkpoint on your chosen route, as specified on your Checkpoint Card. The lists of Checkpoints are also shown on the 'Timetables' tab or click here to see them. On arrival hand your card to the checker who will record your entry number and mark your card. Your card will then be returned to you.

    Unmanned Checkpoints

    On the Gold Route the Llwynfranc checkpoint is unmanned until 1600, then manned until it closes at 1730. On the Bronze Route three checkpoints are unmanned. A single letter on an A3 size sheet is loacted at these Checkpoints with a pencil attached. Use the pencil and note the letter in the appropriate box on your Checkpoint Card.

    Checkpoint Closing Times

    Checkpoint closing times are shown on the 'Timetables' tab. Walkers arriving at these checkpoints after this time must retire. After this time, make your way directly to Central Control at the Red Cross Hall.

    Procedure at finish

    At the Red Cross Hall present your card at the check-in desk. If it is correctly marked you will receive a certificate confirming your achievement of completing The Three Peaks Trial Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze Route. Light refreshments will be available at the Guide Hall for all entrants between 1430 and 1930. Unless there are unforeseen circumstances the event will close at 1930.
